About Us

Cassidy-Davies Electrical

CD Electrical was founded by two Kiwi mates – Tim from Christchurch and Dylan from Auckland.  After decades working on high profile projects together we decided to put our expertise to the best possible use and start our own Christchurch electrical services business.

We’ve got over 25 years combined experience in providing both commercial and residential services and all our electricians are fully qualified, highly experienced, and hand-picked by us. We service the wider Christchurch area, our home, and we plan on sticking around for the long haul.

Meet The Team

Dylan Cassidy
Dylan Cassidy

Dylan began his electrical career in 2003 in Auckland. Never being one to shy away from a challenge he took an opportunity in 2010 to move south to be involved in the Christchurch Airport project & further develop his commercial construction skills.

This is where he first met his mate & soon to be business partner Tim.

After working together on numerous large scale projects they put their heads together & Cassidy-Davies Electrical was born.

They set about building the foundations of the business around core values of pride, commitment & honesty with a focus on customer satisfaction & delivering a high standard electrical product.

Dylan has always been passionate about sport, in his spare time you’ll find him on the golf course or pondering when it will actually be the year of the Warrior.

Tim Davies

Tim began his journey in the electrical industry in 2006. Born & raised in Christchurch, initially controls & automation were his fields of expertise. Being a proud local man he jumped at the opportunity to work on the Christchurch Airport project & be a part of a key cornerstone development for his home city.

Following on from that he spent a couple of years overseas exploring the world & honing his electrical skills before returning home to form a business with his mate Dylan.

He now enjoys being able to provide high quality electrical services to his hometown & takes pride in training/developing local apprentices into high quality tradesman. When Tim is not at work, you’ll find him out on a sports field coaching kids rugby, cheering on the Crusaders, running around with his beloved dog Charlie, or spending time with his family.

Operations Manager

Coming from a background in advertising & abseiling, I could never have imagined an electrical career was on the cards for me. Meeting Dylan & Tim flipped my ideals on their head.

After taking up an offer from Dylan to relocate from Auckland to Christchurch in 2010, I’ve never looked back.

The training, knowledge & support I’ve gained from being involved with Cassidy-Davies has not only benefitted me in a work capacity, but has driven me to inspire future electrical legends. With the variety of work & the future looking bright, I’m full of exuberance for what comes next for Cassidy-Davies.

Hi, I’m James and I have been in the electrical industry for 6 years. Born and bred in Timaru I’ve always had a passion for travel, upon completing school I moved to nelson where I trained and qualified as an electrician.

After a brief working holiday in Ireland I came back to NZ and settled in Christchurch. Cassidy-Davies presented an opportunity for me to work with a great team of motivated, passionate, driven people which I grabbed with both hands.  The future certainly looks bright having Dylan and Tim at the helm of this electrical ship.

I look forward to tackling the challenging opportunities ahead. In my spare time I relish being active, whether that be in the gym, out on the rugby field or carving up the water on some skis, there’s never a dull moment.

Danny G

Hey I’m Danny and I have been in the electrical trade for 3 years. Having spent more than decade working as a chef for a multitude of businesses and dabbling in some construction, following that I couldn’t be happier with my decision to settle on an electrical trade.

In an ever changing industry that presents opportunity to develop specialised skills & further my knowledge base I’m very grateful to have Cassidy Davies and the crew behind me.

Working for a company who’s core values are built upon a strong sense of pride, commitment, innovation and excellence, I truly feel they not only push me to succeed but are behind me every step of the way.

Born and raised in the mainland of NZ I’m a through and through southerner who enjoys all the benefits of our great back yard.. the South Island. Whether that’s 4 wheel driving, exploring the outdoors with my much loved dog or spending time with my new born son planning our next adventure I love getting outside and getting amongst it.

Danny P

Hey, I’m Danny and I have been in electrical trade for 14 years.

What brought me into the electrical trade was one week of school work experience and became eager to learn more. Once school was finished, I took up the opportunity of an electrical apprenticeship and haven’t looked back

When I qualified in 2011 due to economic downtown in Ireland, I jumped on the plane to New Zealand and proud to call it my second home. It has been a great sense of pride rebuilding this city since I arrived in 2013 and working on many varied projects with Cassidy-Davies.

Dylan and Tim’s core values of the company are spot on and they value each member of the team and you are not treated as just a number.

In my downtime I like being active and play football/golf and a massive Liverpool FC supporter.

Hi, I’m Andrew and have spent my last 4 years in the electrical industry. I have always been looking for opportunities to improve my skills in the trade as well as in life.

I moved across the world to New Zealand from Zimbabwe at a young age with my parents who wanted a bright future for me. No brighter opportunity has come my way than the one provided by the team at Cassidy-Davies Electrical.

Finding a team that prides themselves in their workmanship, commitment, honesty and most importantly safety has ticked all of the boxes for me and hopefully this will for you as well.

In my downtime I enjoy keeping busy, whether this is traveling to new places, spending time with family and friends or looking for my next adventure.

Hi I’m Kyle, I started off in the service industry which gave me a taste of the electrical trade which I jumped into in 2016 and haven’t looked back.

I’m from Christchurch and now live here with my wife and two pre-school aged daughters. In my (limited!) spare time I like to go mountain biking in the port hills.

Tim and Dylan have created a great business with a positive and safety conscious work culture. Working for Cassidy-Davies has provided me with the challenges and support needed to push myself and continue to build on my skill set and move forward in the industry.

Hi, I’m Jordan and I have been in the electrical industry for 5 years, joining the trade straight out of high school. As of recently, my partner and I have moved from Auckland to Christchurch in search of a fresh start, new adventures, and a place to call home.

I’ve had the great opportunity of joining Cassidy-Davies, whose core fundamentals are built upon pride, commitment, workmanship and safety. This has provided me with a working environment where I can further develop my craft.

Besides my passion for work, in my downtime I enjoy working on my car and adding to my shoe collection.

Apprentice Electrician

Hi, I’m Dan and I’m fresh into the Electrical Industry as an apprentice with Cassidy- Davies Electrical.

My working career has been quite varied to say the least: out of school I went into the fitting, turning and tool-making industry. Following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, the workshop shut down and I moved to the construction sector, completing EQC repairs to high end architectural builds. In 2018 my career took an unexpected turn as I went full throttle into the Turbocharger industry.

However, my goal was to gain recognition as a qualified tradie, this is where I soon found myself sitting at a table with Dylan and Tim, talking about their values and company environment, thinking this is who I am. A week later I was standing with the rest of the team for the Monday meeting, ready to get stuck in and haven’t looked back from the decision since – eager to tackle the challenges that are ahead.

Outside work you’ll find me spending quality time with family, outdoor adventures, odd gaming session with my daughter, completing house renos and tinkering with my car project

Office Manager

Hi, I’m Holly. I studied at the University of Canterbury and have worked in finance and admin for the last ten years, joining Cassidy-Davies in March 2021.

I feel really lucky to have landed the role – Tim and Dylan are great bosses who have created a fantastic culture here. The whole team are hardworking, kind and supportive. It’s a busy office and no two days are the same, which is exactly what I enjoy most about it.

In my downtime you’ll find me with my two year old Grace, and helping my husband with our never ending home renovation.

Hey I’m Kini and I’ve been in the electrical trade for 6 years.

Growing up in the kingdom of Tonga I served my country proudly over a number of years in the Army which included training in many different countries and culminated with a peace keeping mission in the Solomon Islands.

In 2006 I came to New Zealand for a holiday and fell in love with the place.

Moving myself and my family here permanently, I was looking for my next challenge and signed up to train and qualify as an electrician. The skills I acquired and the knowledge I’ve subsequently gained has presented me with many opportunities that I never thought possible

One of those opportunities was to move to Christchurch in 2017 and tackle a fresh set of challenges.

After getting settled in to my new surroundings Cassidy Davies took me onboard and I have never looked back. Their core company values of pride, commitment and honesty are very much in line with not only what was instilled in me in the Army but what I firmly believe in as a family man.

With the support network of the staff and the backing of the owners I truly feel the sky’s the limit when it comes to success.

When I’m not at work I love spending time with my family, training and participating in the rugby league community.

Abbe Anderson

Junior Apprentice

Hi I’m Abbe, I began my career in the electrical industry at the start of 2022. I soon started after completing my pre trade and doing some work experience for Cassidy-Davies over the summer.

I wanted a hands on career that continually challenged me and offered opportunities to improve on my skills. Working alongside the boys at Cassidy-Davies has given me just that; with the wide variety of work and knowledge they offer, I’m enjoying every moment of it.

When I’m not working I’ll be doing weekend roadies with my mates or staying fit, whether it be snowboarding or going on hikes.

Excited to see what the future has installed with the CDE team.

Hamish Bond

Junior Apprentice

Hi, I’m Hamish, I am fresh into the Electrical trade, beginning my electrical journey with Cassidy-Davies Electrical.

I have always been the sort of person who enjoys hands on practical work, being involved with technical events throughout high school. This is where I started to think about life after school, I knew that it had to be something hands on, and something technical or electrical.

When I was in the process of completing my pre-trade course at the Southern Institute of Technology and was asked by my tutor if I wanted to be put in-touch with an electrical company and do some work experience. I wasn’t going to say no. Cassidy-Davies gave me insight into the trade and I knew I had to see more of what the electrical trade had to offer. Cassidy-Davies was my first thought when it came to looking for an apprenticeship. The whole team is so inclusive, and they are extremely knowledgeable.

In my spare time, if I am not on the hockey turf with a whistle in hand umpiring multiple games of hockey on the weekends, you can find me hanging out with family and friends.
